Nose Surgery Abroad (Rhinoplasty)

Cosmetic surgery of the nose involves reshaping of the nose. It can reduce or increase size, remove a hump, change the shape of the tip or bridge, narrow the span of the nostrils, or change the angle between the nose and upper lip. It can also correct a birth defect or injury, or help relieve some breathing problems. It can dramatically alter the appearance of the entire face. A nose job is a commonly performed cosmetic surgery procedure for both men and women.

Procedure: During surgery the skin of the nose is separated from its supporting framework of bone and cartilage, which is then sculpted to the desired shape. Then the skin is redraped over the new framework. Patients should not smoke at all at least 1-2 weeks before and after surgery. It is done under general anesthesia. Surgery takes 1-3 hours. Patients spend 2 nights in clinic.

Recovery: Recovery from nose surgery is a gradual process. Basic recovery is within about 14 days. In the first few days after surgery there may be some bleeding and some pain (which can be controlled with medication). Swelling and bruising around the eyes will increase for 2 to 3 days, then mostly disappear within 14 days from the surgery.

Special bandage must be worn on nose for 1-3 days and plaster on nose for 10-14 days. Recommended stay in Prague and back to work in 7-14 days. Glasses often cannot be worn for 4-8 weeks. Activity should be minimised for 3-5 days after surgery, strenuous exercise avoided for 2-3 weeks and you should be careful with the nose for 8 weeks. In some cases some barely noticeable swelling is present for several months. There is no visible scarring.
