Tumescent Liposuction Abroad

Tumescent liposuction removes subcutaneous fatty tissue layers from the body too improve body shape. It is used to remove exercise-resistant fat deposits. It can be used on the abdomen, sides, hips, buttocks, thighs, upper arms, chin and neck. The results are permanent if a sensible diet and exercise regime are maintained. Liposuction is used for fat removal and cellulite removal from stubborn areas that don´t respond to traditional weight-loss methods. Liposuction is not a substitute for dieting and exercise. It is sometimes done in combination with surgery of the inner thighs and inner arms.

Procedure: With tumescent liposuction, before the procedure the targeted fat cells are infused with saline solution containing a local anesthetic, in order to reduce post-operative bruising and swelling. A narrow tube or cannula is inserted through a tiny incision and used to vacuum the fat layer that lies deep beneath the skin. The cannula is pushed and pulled through the fat layer, breaking up the fat cells and suctioning them out. The suction action is provided by a vacuum pump or a large syringe.

Patients should not smoke at all at least 1-2 weeks before and after surgery. It is done under general anesthesia, but may be possible with a local anesthesia and sedation. The procedure normally takes 2-3 hours. Patients spend 1 night in clinic.

Recovery: Healing is a gradual process. Even with the tumescent method, you may still experience some pain, swelling, bleeding and temporary numbness. Pain can be controlled with medications. You may be stiff and sore for a few days. Stitches are taken out after about 7 days. Compression garments must be worn for 4-6 weeks. Recommended stay in Prague and back to work after about 7 days, depending on nature of work. The surgeon may suggest some light exercise program to assist recovery. Activity should be minimised for 3-5 days after surgery and strenuous exercise avoided for about 4 weeks. Scars are small and placed to be inconspicuous. Results are noticable soon after surgery and mostly apparent after 4-6 weeks. Minor swelling may take 3 months to disappear.
