Breast Surgery Overseas

Cosmetic breast surgery changes the size and shape of the breasts to achieve a desired cosmetic results and/or to resolve the effects if ageing. The procedure may be breast augmentation with implants, breast lift, breast shaping, breast augmentation and shaping, and breast reduction.

Breast augmentation: (breast enlargement) Enhances the size and shape of the breasts to give a better shaped and larger breast. The bustline may be increased by one or more bra cup sizes. It can be done for a number of reasons including to solve the problem of inadequate breast development, to resolve breast sagging from breast tissue loss, to correct a reduction in breast volume after pregnancy, to balance a difference in breast size, as a reconstructive technique following breast surgery, or for personal reasons when a woman feels her breast size is too small.

The incision can be made either in the crease where the breast meets the chest, around the areola, or in the armpit. Implants are inserted under the breast gland or underneath the muscle. The implants are centered beneath the nipples.The technique will depend on the patients anatomy and on the surgeons recommendations. The procedure and the implants do not interfere with breast feeding or breast examinations. The clinic uses breast implants supplied by Eurosilicons, Polytech and PIP.

Breast shaping: (mammoplasty or breast lift) Solves the problems of breast sagging and loss of shape that can occur after breast feeding, as a result of ageing as skin loses its elasticity and as a result of gravity. It can also solve the problem of asymmetrical breasts. The surgery can raise and reshape sagging breasts. It can also remove some excess skin, reduce the size of areola (the darker skin surrounding the nipple)and reposition the nipple and areola higher. Stitches are usually located around the areola, in a vertical line extending from the nipple area, and along the lower crease of breast.

Breast reduction: (reduction mammoplasty) Reduces breast size and reshapes breasts to yield the desired size and shape. Excessively developed breasts can lead to health problems, particularly with the spine and with posture. This procedure can make dressing easier and allow you to enjoy more active sports. It can also remove some excess skin, reduce the size of areola (the darker skin surrounding the nipple)and reposition the nipple and areola higher. Stitches are usually located around the areola, in a vertical line extending from the nipple area, and along the lower crease of breast.

Breast Enlargement Abroad

Procedure: Patients are usually required to have a mammogram (breast x-ray) before surgery. Patients should not smoke at all at least 1-2 weeks before and after surgery. The procedures are done under general anesthesia. Surgery takes from 1-2 hours for augmentation to 3-4 hours for shaping. Patients spend 2 nights in the clinic.

Recovery: Healing is a gradual process. Patients may feel tired and sore for a few days after the surgery. Pain can be controlled with medications. Swelling may take several weeks to disappear and the breasts may be sensitive during that time. Stitches are taken out after 12-14 days. Compression bra must be worn for 4-6 weeks. Recommended stay in Prague and back to work after 7-14 days, depending on the exact procedure. Activity should be minimised for 3-5 days after surgery and strenuous exercise avoided for about 4 weeks. Incisions are made so that resulting scars will be as inconspicuous as possible. Scars can take up to 12 months to fade.
